The drives worth planning around
The Ostrog climb
The monastery hangs off a cliff face an hour north, and the final switchbacks are an experience in themselves. Go early, park at the lower gate, and let the car cool while you walk up.
Lake Skadar and the loop
South-west to the hairpin viewpoint above Rijeka Crnojevica, the photograph of the river looping through green you have already seen, then on around the lake. An easy half-day on quiet roads.
The Moraca canyon north
Follow the river north toward Kolasin and the road threads tunnels and galleries cut into the canyon wall, opening now and then onto the Moraca monastery and long green drops. Proper mountain driving on good tarmac, and the gateway to the Durmitor high country beyond.
